I'd plant out next spring. If you take it indoors, not somewhere too warm

Keep it anywhere between 0 and 10 degrees overwinter otherwise it will grow. It doesn't need light below around 10 degrees.

Wouldn't it kill the main stem if you made the stem to small?

Rob,

Whats happened is the bottom leaves were brown, speckled, looked aweful.

Its not grown that much in leaves and even after all the heat its still only got six leaves. It had been well watered, fed four tabs of slow release so I don't know what went wrong with it..

..So I want to be bringing it indoors but not that tall so I will just chop it halfway. I also have an ensete to house.

Thanks Kris, your a diamond guy.

Kata i'd bring it in, or stick in unheated plastic greenhouse, with a fleece bag over it. Mine in pots come through with an intact p-stem like this no problem.

Then plant next Spring for better growth and straw cage winter 2014

you can lop them right back to the base and they just throw up new rollers, forming a new p-stem.

I have learned something new, I thought cutting them to the floor would kill them . :(

At the start of this season I kept cutting all my pups right back to the soil as didnt want them, everyone would come back within a week and start growing again  The ones I don't protect over winter also get cut back naturally by frost to the ground, and regrow from the same stem.

After a long frost and many months of bad weather even an unprotected Musella Lasiocarpa regrowed. I first noticed it in July and it's very small but even so I was surprised. I have a few that I overwinter above zero and they do well.

I actually put mine in the ground purchased in october and used staw method and there wasnt a problem.

I just gave 13 pups away and advises this, however if you have room in the house thats great.

Did you catch rat kata:-)
