Ensete Maurelii in pots when take indoor

Post by Sat »

Like some advice when the Ensete needs to be taken indoors, all 3 of mine are small 3ft plants in pots.

I have stored them in my bathroom in previous years which kept them growing, but this is not an option this year (wife).

I have also done the remove leaves method, but found that they too small and then re-planted in summer took a long time to get going and 1 also died.

SO ....Will it be ok to store them in unheated garage over the winter? Or do they need a minimum temp?

My other option is store in unheated garage during midler winter temps, say up to 5C, and if dip below that I could just bring inside into house, say downstairs unheated toilet during colder - minus temps, then put back in garage once temps rise above 5c again - is this viable?

What did you do in the end? Mine are in an unheated garage and are looking fine - I did a tidy up yesterday and removed small bits of mould.
