It should grow out of it. I know it isn't the same plant but my musa basjoo use to get the same problem it had it two seasons in a row but now it is fine. My two little ensete V's have a couple of those markings on the leaves. Not really thought anything of it though. I will keep an eye on them to see how they fare. You have a lovely specimen there.

Yes, Aaron, it is beautiful. As you can see in the pictures, I don t have a couple of spots... I have an invasion and it is geting worse day by day .
However, I dig it out and dry store next week. It used to grow a full leaf in 6-8 days last summer, very very fast , now seems to stop growing so there s no point in keeping it in the ground.
I truly hope to overwinter it successfuly in Yorkshire Kris style and grow it bigger next year.
This plant is so unique in my country, they do not have it even in the Bucharest botanical garden.
Best regards,
Calin

That spotting doesn't look good and I guess can only be a bad thing. Hopefully it will grow out of it?
Re: Badly spotted Ensete V. leaves
Kris, very bad indeed, because the succes rate of overwintering a sick banana must be considerably lover than with a healthy one. I m hoping that the ugly, spreading spots are caused by the cold wheather and the fact that the sun is lower in the sky and didn t reach my ensete only half to an hour per day.
If the spots are caused by a virus or something like that my dear ventricosum is doomed.
Wish you the best

Wow...Aaron,
DISEASE: Black Sigatoka. PATHOGEN: Mycosphaerella fijiensis
what can I say... this is nasty stuff..
It can not be...or it is?
The leasions on my ensetes leaves look so similar with the infested leaves in the link..
Though I m so far from any Costa Rica banana plantation and from what i read this fungus not live in Europa, the climat in my country isnt tropical or subtropical...
So similar damage ... I don t know.
this make me .
Anyway, i ll try to overwinter it.
May be i should burn it in order to protect the sdwarf cavendish and dwarf cavendish that i grow indoor(those are fine, no spots).

Re: Badly spotted Ensete V. leaves
No don't go burning it, as there is no substantial evidence to say it is that 100% i thought i would show you that link as it looked similar. Have you tried treating it with this http://www.g-l.co.uk/products/gardening ... tAodGQ8AEw It is good stuff i have used it many times and have had excellent results.

I noticed some marks on one of my Musas, I looked at it through a magnifying glass and found some sort of Aphid.
