Hi all,
Ive be overwintering an ensete maurellii in my conservatory, it has carried on growing slowly pushing out a new leaf every 3 weeks or so all through winter but just over the past week or so it has started to lose its colour from its older leaves - Ive I overwatered it? (soil was pretty dry until I gave it a drink Yesterday)

Ensete maurellii - poorly?
Re: Ensete maurellii - poorly?
Yip, too much water. It is surprising how damp the soil can be next to the roots when the top few inches are bone dry, so poke your finger down and use that as a guide. They also have a habit of dripping excess water from the tips of the leaves, so that is also a guide.
Re: Ensete maurellii - poorly?
Thought that might have been the case but no dripping and still growing even though I hadnt given any water as far as I can remember.....I have now though OOPS.....time to stick it next to a heater to warm it up a bit then
Re: Ensete maurellii - poorly?
My gut feeling is the leaves have been burnt but possibly over watered.
Most wanted list - Any Young Trachycarpus and/or fern.
