Musa cheesmanii and Musa yunnanensis

Post by Josh »

I've just received a Musa Yunnanensis and Musa cheesmanii, both ordered from eBay and both fairly good sized plants.

I was hoping to find a Musa xishuangbanna 'mekong giant' but have not gotten lucky yet, but my Searching found the previously mentioned two musas.

My question is has, or does anybody here grow them? If so can anybody give some insight into potential hardiness in the UK as I have not been successful in finding out an answer.

I had some experience with yunnanensis a few years ago, I'd read that they had some hardiness so bought 2. I found out in their 1st winter that they weren't that hardy, I had basjoos and sikhimensis of similar size and all had similar winter protection. Only the yunnanensis died

If you do a search, Josh, members put up some info on all three bananas you mention. They have to be found 2014 and before as post 2014 posts were lost.
