Does anyone know if these can be grown outside in the uk? With protection in the winter like musa bajo?

Hi Cameron. Planting out in winter is a huge risk with these with the possible exception of a sunny Central London site or the Scilly Isles.

Allowing their roots to spread in open soil may well delay flowering. They will perform far better with roots cramped in a pot that appears to be too small for it.

You may well be better off plunging the whole pot in the ground to keep the roots contained and lift for the entire winter months somewhere inside cool and bright.
