Ensete superbum wilting

Post by Dave Brown »

I know Ensete superbum is the least hardy of the Ensete tribe, and that it comes from tropical areas, but I am really surprised that it wilts in full sun. I have had to move it to dappled shade.

Is this normal, or does it have another problem :?: It is not dry.
Best regards
Dave

I have never had one Dave,so don't know what it requires. Is it grown in shade in its native habitat? or does yours just need more time to establish it self in the sun?

it dies back to ground level in winter but resprouts in spring. It has grown all growth in full sun, both behind glass and in the open, but all leaves wilt including new ones grown outside in full sun. It is almost like it does not have enough root to support the top in strong sun

Try different fertilizers Dave, maybe the ones which give strong root growth?
