I know Ensete superbum is the least hardy of the Ensete tribe, and that it comes from tropical areas, but I am really surprised that it wilts in full sun. I have had to move it to dappled shade.
Is this normal, or does it have another problem It is not dry.

I have never had one Dave,so don't know what it requires. Is it grown in shade in its native habitat? or does yours just need more time to establish it self in the sun?Dave Brown wrote:I know Ensete superbum is the least hardy of the Ensete tribe, and that it comes from tropical areas, but I am really surprised that it wilts in full sun. Re: Ensete superbum wilting
it dies back to ground level in winter but resprouts in spring. It has grown all growth in full sun, both behind glass and in the open, but all leaves wilt including new ones grown outside in full sun. It is almost like it does not have enough root to support the top in strong sun
Best regards
Dave

Try different fertilizers Dave, maybe the ones which give strong root growth?Dave Brown wrote:it dies back to ground level in winter but resprouts in spring.
