All kidding aside, do you have any pics? Would be nice to see if it's worth aquiring / hardiness etc.
Cheers, Barrie.
Re: Musa Hajaray
Picture now kindly added by Darren as I was having difficulty uploading it , As you can see it's nothing like the Hajaray I thought I'd bought, in fact it's a slow, stunted thing . As a guide to size, it's in a 10ltr pot.

Sending off-sets already? Is it a tissue cultured Musa?
Any ideas as to it's hardiness?
Cheers, Barrie.

Re: Musa Hajaray
Barrie it was field grown in India, I bought it around April 2009 and watched for a year as it did nothing , I think I got maybe 2 leaves last year. This year has seen a different approach, Heatmat, in full sun, in the greenhouse which has resulted in loads of growth(for this Nana anyway) . The eyes for the pups were there when I received and potted up the corm and I had quite high hopes for this plant initially as it was a good corm to look at, quite large and looking ready to grow, it just hasn't.

Mine finally gave up this winter Dave, just continued to sit and do f**k all and then just wasted away . Lost a few this winter and I've no idea why, they were all in the livingroom as usual and as far as I'm aware they were treated no different than any other year. I'm still fighting to keep a Musa Ornata 'Milky Way' alive which seems to be as slow as Hajaray was for me, same story with that too, lost the main plant and am trying to keep 2 pups going .
Re: Musa Hajaray
Got mine from Amulree last Autumn and placed on gentle bottom heat throughout the winter. It made no growth whatsoever and this spring the leaves died off one by one, the stem collapsed and for a while the surviving corm was solid. I thought it might pup but last month it turned to mush.
Disappointed, I was

I had a strange year with me nanas. Lost nine varieties over winter in the greenhouse and indoors. Admittedly, they were't the biggest of plants but they were some of the ones I was going to trial outdoors this year.
Somehow, I think I may have saved myself some paperwork

Re: Musa Hajaray
It seems Hajaray has awoken
I took the last pic 10 days ago, but last week a pup poked it's head
Today I took another pic of Mother and baby, and even mum has done well

Re: Musa Hajaray
After it started to grow last year it has done ok. Didn't blink at temps of 2ºC in our extended winter, and is looking a reasonable plant.
As you can see it has grown somewhat, and the predominately white pseudostem has given way to light green at the base, although the petioles are now pinkish with the white bloom. The most distinctive part is probably the petioles themselves, as they close up into a cylinder just leaving a hole for the next roller to come through.
