Losophoria quadripinnata
Re: Losophoria quadripinnata
Thanks mick, the strange thing is that i have two plants, one of them produces silver underside straight away yet the other takes longer?. karl.
Re: Losophoria quadripinnata
That's interesting, my observation was based on having seen just my own plant (I have just one) and perhaps two or three others.
I'm quite jealous of your one that colours up straight away while the fronds are in the best condition.

Re: Losophoria quadripinnata
Green, you've confused me ,they are def both quadripinnata. karl.
Re: Losophoria quadripinnata
I have had two of these planted out since last year, when the fronds brown do you cut them back as you would on say a dicksonia?. karl.
Re: Losophoria quadripinnata
Have they gone brown Karl?...I ask because mine are still all green and I haven't even protected it. If they are brown then yes to cut back and hope for the best.
Most wanted list - Any Young Trachycarpus and/or fern.
Re: Losophoria quadripinnata
Tom, yes some have gone brown, even though they reach a decent height when established they are slow to reproduce fronds normally. karl.
Re: Losophoria quadripinnata
They are slow growers but I understand once established the number of fronds increases.

Re: Losophoria quadripinnata
Tom, had a look at my largest one this afternoon & its doing the business now!, got 2 very slow fronds developing, the sad news is the smaller one I purchased which wasn't in the best of health when bought has done nothing & is looking quite sad . karl.
Re: Losophoria quadripinnata
Good to hear the larger one is pushing up, mine is just moving as well. Hopefully the smaller one will be good, they are suppose to be very tough.karl66 wrote:Tom, had a look at my largest one this afternoon & its doing the business now!, got 2 very slow fronds developing, the sad news is the smaller one I purchased which wasn't in the best of health when bought has done nothing & is looking quite sad . karl.

Re: Losophoria quadripinnata
Tom, the large one is really coming on now!, one observation I've made is that the new season's frond's do not turn silver underneath until the following year. karl.
Re: Losophoria quadripinnata
Yes, I have noticed that, although mine is a very slow grower. Only putting out two fronds at the moment.karl66 wrote:Tom, the large one is really coming on now!, one observation I've made is that the new season's frond's do not turn silver underneath until the following year. karl.
