The silver colouring on the underside looks stunning & when it gets 6/7ft tall it will look great i imagine.I'm off on my hol's tommorow afternoon so i hope to see some progress on return. karl.

Well there has been some progress with 2 of the fronds starting to uplift. As far as i know they are evergreen & some even suggest they take -21 !!. They are expensive for a smallish fern but remember they can grow 15ft tall in the right conditions & the silver underside makes them stunning. I was advised to drape with a light blanket if a prolonged freeze is expected. karl.

I very much doubt they will take -21C but providing you mulch very well, even when the fronds are killed by a hard frost, they should come back in spring. They are like tree ferns in that they stay evergreen so long as the winter allows it.

i emailed the place where you got your first from but never got a reply.
the website has no mention of how big things are for the prices they cost.

My largest one has produced a large frond in the last few wk's but the strange thing is the underside is not silver like the rest, but green on both sides :?: , do they take time to change colour?. karl.

From what I've seen Karl the fronds develop the blue undersides in the second year.
