If you are handy with computery stuff then I use this freebie graphics tool:

Allows all sorts of crop / resize / etc. I Crop, resize to 800 x 600 on longest dimension (although Dave allows larger to be displayed "onclick") and then save at 70% - which generally gets my down to, or below, 100KB

If you are less techie then one of the online image shrinking services probably better - but you still have to wait whilst your multi-MB image from your camera uploads ... to then get back a much smaller, and quicker, download.

I think you can get a app to do that.

Seagraves, messy crown and overall a poor fern in terms of the number of croziers it puts out, 6 now with the seventh not moving for some reason. Only 7 last year as well.



One of my older Dicksonia antarctica's that for some reason is exceptionally slow. Its treated the same at the others, and is moving but very, very slowly.



My other potted 4 footer, can't seem to get rid of the robin!!

It's that narrowing in the crown so vivible in all the photos I thought Dave was talking about?

I think it is next to impossible to stop the crown narrowing but if it eventually closed up on one of my Dicksonia antarctica crowns then I think I would use a saw to open the crown back up.

Dicksonia antarctica growth is a bit variable this year, with those in very dry shade much later than those in sun or where I have watered regularly. DelBoy, DannyBoy, SquatBoy and Fat Boy Dicksonia antarctica are flushing well, while Little and Large are just starting

No thankfully they aren't narrowing. The browner cuts underneath are previous years growth which you can see it moving out to form the trunk.

I think in the wild tree ferns fronds are pushed right to the side so don't slightly move inwards, where as when they arrive and we plant them the fronds are not as big so they move slightly inwards.

None of mine have ever narrowed, but then again I lost all my older ones. I will always try to keep the fronds cut quite far down after they have died, but all mine currently seem to gradually push the dead frond bases outwards.
