Cyathea Cunninghamii
Re: Cyathea Cunninghamii
Possibly don't like being in pots.
It's surprising how much water cyathea need over winter if kept warm enough to grow and I think that is what cgmii need. It's probably more trouble than it's worth seeing as medularis is similar and easier.

Re: Cyathea Cunninghamii
In my oppinion C Cunninghamii looks completely different to Medullaris. My C Cunninghamii was well watered and was kept the same in winter as it was in summer but in summer the tempratures don't fluctuate outside like they do in winter when I brought it in from the garden. I have seen C Cunninghamii in a botanical gardens greenhouse but that is kept well heated through winter. I really think that C Cunninghamii does not like fluctuating tempratures.
Re: Cyathea Cunninghamii
I have thought of putting a poly tunnel over the whole garden.
Re: Cyathea Cunninghamii
Today the C Cunninghamii arrived from Holland.
It has a 25cm trunk and a few fronds and croziers in the crown.
And at the price I payed for it I may order an other.
It's a good quality plant.

Re: Cyathea Cunninghamii
I kept one outside over several winters before 2010, thoroughly fleeced, and it survived very well but the winter of 2010 killed it. I won't be trying this one again unless I can get hold of a heating cable for it.
Re: Cyathea Cunninghamii
Well I would not mind growing this one out side and fleecing it well, I think its bringing them in, in winter that has killed them in the past.
Re: Cyathea Cunninghamii
Nice plant! ....what was the price if you don't mind? How are you planning to get it through winter?
Most wanted list - Any Young Trachycarpus and/or fern.
Re: Cyathea Cunninghamii
It was only about £25.00 for the plant.
I may buy another and plant one outside and bring one in in winter.

Re: Cyathea Cunninghamii
Bargain at £25 good score, and nice plant. It does look like a small medullaris though
Re: Cyathea Cunninghamii
Great plant and well packaged for delivery, I could not recommend the company more.
Re: Cyathea Cunninghamii
Excellent price, almost cheap enough to be summer bedding!

Re: Cyathea Cunninghamii
Hi Rob,
What company did you get the fern from and is it fully rooted? I am after a Medullaris so it would be greatly appreciated if you could point me in the right direction.
Regards
Rick
