Do you water yours?

Post by Tom2006 »

Thought this might warrant a separate topic? During the winter months do you water your Dicksonia Antarctica? I have read a lot this year about watering the trunk during winter but not the crown. I have never watered mine at any point during winter so wondered what the best thing to do is please? Thanks

In the winter...NO. It'll freeze and damage the crown. I only water mine in the summer during dry spells.

I water if very dry in late winter when the sun starts to gain some height, but not when frost is forecast. I don't water during Nov to end of Jan as things don't tend to dry out.

The trunk gets wet in rain as I don't protect from it, just the ball of fleece to keep frost off the knuckles.
Best regards
