Re: UPDATE ON MY RAPHIDOPHYLUM HYSTRIX. BILLDANGO.
Here is my "whipper snapper" of a needle palm-still growing in cool conditions-it is not as slow as people make out. It stays in the greenhouse until its of some size.

That looks a nice young specimen you have there pipster12.
When I bought mine from the palm center many years ago it was just a little bigger then that pot one but now it grown to about 5 feet tall and 7 feet across.
It already has multiple trunks covered in spines and looks quite exotic.
Only slight damage to it after last nights storm with a couple of the larger leaves bent over but it still looks good.
I would get yours planted out as soon as poss next spring and it will grow quicker then being in a pot.

Hi billdango-I have re potted this palm twice this summer-they have a lot of thick fleshy roots. According to sources it stands a lot of frost if the roots don't get frozen and they need to be established with a good root run.
Just in case I decided to plant it-I have bought one of those large plastic bells to help it establish.
Might try it out when it reaches about 18 inches high-Manchester is colder/cooler than Southampton
good news that yours is still thriving
