Bought five of these from mypalmshop.com as sale items.

Grow under a canopy if you can. The cold hasn't been a problem here but if snow rests on the leaves they'll shrivel and die shortly thereafter. They're fairly slow plants (2 leaves per year here) so you want to try and retain as much green material as possible.

Snails/slugs seem to love them too!!

Yes snails LOVE them  I have a small one that has been reduced to skeletal leaves all over, my bigger clump though isn't as bad, I guess they are too lazy to climb up that far

You would not believe how high up the side's of houses and up certain trees I have found snails, they think nothing of climbing 50ft to graze on any algae that might be growing up there.

Yes, this is my experience exactly. This plant has seen off -9C no problem, and looks so tropical, its fantastic, trouble is the snails rip it to shreds. :(

This particular Chameadorea is very cold hardy but for me is another painfully slow palm outdoors .
I may need to grow them to a good size in a green house for them to get any speed outdoors .
