You can tell that one has been planted much smaller & grown to that size from how 'chunky' it is. They grow outwards before they go up. The trunked Butia is a Yatay and they do have a different look don't forget! Although it was indeed imported as a trunked plant i am told it was considerably smaller when it was planted over 10 years ago!

They never look as good as they are meant to over here though & I have never seen a trunked imported B. Yatay carry a full head of fronds...
