Trachycarpus Trimming season has started

Let the Trachyf Trimming season begin.... a bit late this year as normally starts in late November but due to almost continuous storms, getting up a ladder was not advisable.
First on my trimming list were Fred Flintstone Trachycarpus (Partly stripped), and Barny Rubble Trachycarpus (fully hairy). When these palms were planted back in 1994 at a height of just over 1ft/30cm I never envisaged them blocking out the sun from the lounge. 20 years later they block out the sun between 1 and 2 pm from November thru January, and will obviously only get taller, so block for longer of the year. Eventually the sun will start to shine blow the crown which is why the crown is being reduced.
Both of these have not been trimmed for 2 years, and the crowns cast a huge shadow right up to the bungalow. The number of leaves were drastically reduced to allow sunlight under the palms to warm/brighten the garden in late winter/early spring.
When I had finished even though not long before sunset, the light into the lounge was noticeably greater, as a piece of sky was shining bright rather then dark
Next job for these guys is to tidy up the cut petioles and for Fred to strip the trunk
