Hi my first posting here. I have two large palms in tubs. This year I noticed new growth from the top that looks more like a Xmas tree than new fonds. Is this Normal ?

Flowering a possibility. Do you know the name of your palms? Also, photos will be helpful but you have to have ten posts before you can upload pics.

Welcome to HTUK, btw icon_cheers

Not sure of exact type of palm as I’ve had them for many years. The fonds are quite broad and looking at pictures are similar to « cabbage palm » type

cabbage palm usually refers to cordyline which is not a palm at all
or Sabal palmento they are both quite different to each other.
The cordyline as strap like leaves whilst the sabal as palm like fronds
