Popped into B&Q today, they still have around 4 or 5 Phoenix canariensis_CIDP. The smaller ones are ok but two large ones are black, but not spear pulling (i checked lol) and they are still trying to sell them at full price.

RIP Phoenix canariensis_CIDP.Give it good send off, cremation is the best, the ash contains a bit of potash,so will feed the ground.

You should be able to pick one up for a tenner in the spring.

Keep it in a pot for few years, then plant it out.Whilst it's small you can fetch it undercover when it's cold, doesn't have to go in a greenhouse ,just chuck it in the garage for the duration of the cold.

Most of the ritual slaughter is of spruces and firs. Not many pines.
