These are not like tree growth rings being a yearly growth rate, but you can see the rate of growth between each flush. The pic below has a definate ring of leaf bases on the trunk compared to the scale/spines that grow in between.
Has anyone else noticed this

Re: Cycas revoluta growth rings
Mine are all to small Dave to notice any rings Interesting pic tho there seems to be 3/4 darker rings on the caudex...looks about 4/6 years growth in between them????
Re: Cycas revoluta growth rings
But do they flush every year?
[and if they don't, do they get to look like train loos? ]

In a word, no, yes, maybe, parhaps. Take your pick !Conifers wrote:But do they flush every year?

I have several both juvenile and mature all with eratic growth. Best was two flushes in one season, worst is a healthy specimen that hasn't flushed since purchase four years ago.
Re: Cycas revoluta growth rings
Have 1 acting weird as well MM...Must be the longest flush in history ..Starting to get worried that its going to harden off before fronds are fully grown
