Gibberellic Acid / GA3 to enhance germination?

Anyone tried using Gibberellic Acid / GA3 to improve their chances with difficult seeds?

Seems to be readily available on eBay and cheap, (the listing I found has already sold 1092 units!). I remember using it at college in some experiments on enhancing germination ... wasn't trying anything hard-to-grow at the time though.

From what I've read, dosage can be very critical - a tiny bit too much, and it suppresses germination instead of enhancing it.

I dabbled a few years ago, but I found the results negligible. The best thing to increase germination percentages of difficult species, is the freshest possible seed and to copy what happens in their natural enviroment.

Thanks chaps. I've been reading similar about criticality of dilution rates; I'm inclined to give it a go, I'll let you know if I have any joy.

Germination of banana seeds using GA3 is not a good idea. It retards germination.

It may work on heliconia seeds, however
