that is fantastic, a board member sent me some as well and I have germination also! Showing the tiny tiny bit of green right now but I think they are to close together..how long until you can bust them apart and repot them?

I'd separate them now, while they just have a single taproot, before there are any side roots getting tangled up with each other. Do it gently, and don't let the roots get dry during the repotting.

well done kristen, I pass a monkey puzzle tree on my journey into town few times a week and at a rough guess it must be 50ft tall but it has recently been hacked like crazy and looks dreadful! There is only a small section right at the very top with branches on the rest all gone just one big bare stem.

Coming along nicely Kristen,

I wonder what age they turn the beautiful dark green we know so well.

There is a small one I pass to go post office. There was one in my old town about same size as San sees but it had enormous cones on it.

The tree was very close to the house and had any cones dropped on the resident they would have been seriously Injured, some cones were on the ground so I knew they were very big.

Hmm, i think i may have to go back on my last comment as on google images of monkey puzzle trees there seems to be a fare amount of monkey puzzle trees with all the lower and middle branches cut off. I always thought this is how they are meant to look. So may be the person who cut all those branches off was doing the right thing after all?

The two I have seen in real time like walking have both been like this.

Never trimmed to me that spoiling the look.

I think?? that "branches right down to the bottom" requires that there aren't any trees nearby. Its possible that the other reason for chopping the branches off is to pre-empt them falling on someone? But, yeah, must make the plant look ugly :(
