Anyone know how to take cuttings from Fatshedera lizei

Post by marie06 »

I've probably spelt that wrong, but can anyone tell me how to do what the title says? I have tried in the past but never succeeded. I have a huge one which I planted about 10 years ago, and would love another but I've never seen one offered for sale anywhere.

You were close - Fatshedera lizei. Said to be fairly easy from semi-ripe cuttings now or heel cuttings any time of year.

If you are not sure of the method let me know & I'll post the details. The main thing is to give bottom heat 21C if you can & keep humidity around the cuttings high.

I was told that all Aralea could be propagated by root cuttings. I tried several years with Fatsia japonica variegata stem cuttings without success.

I've tried Fatsia j. too, with no luck. But I have grown them from seed off my plants.

I have done fatsia J by cutting. Just make sure the medium is free draining as it can rot, trial and error but it worked

Mo, what type of cuttings did you take? as not every method works for every plant. Also there will be no guarantee that what worked for Fatsia will work for Fatshedera.
