Brug cuttings .... what to do with them now?

I had mine on a warm radiator last winter to help them root.

If they are from the cool equatorial regoins of the world. Warm water with low oxygen might not be what they want

The cuttings came from the same source, so should be either all virused or none.

Nubbles doesn't sound like a 'proper' horticultural name!

Ok .. almost 2 weeks on, and I've got loads of roots, and stems are starting to grow.

Interestingly, well I find it interesting, roots are forming above and below the waterline.

Water has not been changed at all, and smells fresh. Not a hint of 'nastiness'. All cuttings are solid ... no sign of rot or softening at all.

The cuttings closest to the bubbler have got the largest roots.

I'd not heard of these 'bubblers' before, but looked them up on the web when you first mentioned them. It looks like a really effective method and I can see how the addition of Hydrogen Peroxide and aeration from an aquarium airpump would increase the oxygen content of the water, improving rooting potential and reduce the need for water changes to keep the medium fresh.
I might have to give it a try at some point!

Pete, it made sense to me, that's why I tried it. And the outlay was not huge. Well, was nothing actually as I had the stuff lying around.

I manages to off load a few to Stuart ,so Mine have a bit more room in the tub now...

The only one with no roots on it is Sanguinea. I know these ones are harder to get to root in water ,but i seem to remember libby or was it cathy Getting one to root.

Sanguineas seems to vary Mark. I have one that I think is a 'pure' sanguinea which is small and bushy which never roots from cuttings and one which seems to be more of a hybrid or a different form. This is a taller plant which does seem to root from cuttings

Mine are rooting well and pushing out leaves. I'm going to add a bit of nutrient to the mix today, to give some feed.

Martin, if you happen to have a spare cutting from your 'pure' brug, I would be really interested to see if I can root it in the bubbler.

I can send you some pieces helen. Its a nice plant that never seems to get very large and flowers regularly

Mine are rooting well and pushing out leaves.

Mine pushed out leaves before roots. Is that not everyone else's experience?

Some of mine pushed out roots first, others leaves first. Same variety of brug as well.

So, they seem to simply be contrary plants!
