I have had modest success with a load of date stones this year, however, some of them have sent their first leaf straight up in the air whilst others have chosen to curl round, many exceeding 360'. Both types seem healthy enough. I was wondering if anyone knew why this happens and if it's a disorder/deficiency needs curing.
Cheers,
Mike.

Re: Curly strap leaves
I've had this and it seems quite common. I have no idea why, but they seem to grow normally after the initial leaf.
Best regards

A lot of Phoenixes and Serenoas do this - I have not been able to find any obvious problem with them. Probably nothing to worry about.
