Sorry to hear/see so much damage. Your temperatures remind me of what I had (although not quite the lows) last winter. Its the prolonged sub zero that kills our lovely plants. Amazing to see your happy looking Trachycarpus. I would be getting some seed from that in the future!

Well this year it was horror. And - 19 C is really bad!

15 days continuously below 0°C is destructive.

Probably better to grow Dryas and Silene stenophylla here. But then you still have the wet winters.
Actually a long time ago I had alpines here, but winter to wet and to warm was not their cup of tea. So they got replaced by Chamaerops and Cistus. Well that was in 1980.
Even native plants had frostdamage this year. Luecojum aestivum and Allium ursinum with frostdamage, something I had never seen in my live. Almost 50 now...
