I know it's subjective, but I'm not sure it's any darker than 'Licorice' which I've had in the ground for a few years, or is it a re-naming exercise.?

Certainly doesn't look any darker from those pics Bob, most likely the same as Obsidian too but I thought I'd mention it.
I have bought a couple today from ebay so will let you know and post some pics once they arrive.
Yours look great by the way, an excellent contrast to the greenery.

Re: New Variety of Heuchera: 'Blackout'
Received my Heuchera order today from Preston Bissett Nurseries.
I'm impressed with the Blackout, mainly because I ordered 9cm pots and this is what they sent me:
It is nice and dark leaved but I don't know if it is any darker than the other 2 black Heuchera.
