Any bromeliad experts?

Post by ourarka »

After my first attempt at a bromeliad log didn't really work, my next one is going to involve mounting on a coir pole, in the hope of it providing a good anchor for the roots and retaining a little more moisture than my previous branch. I was just hoping for some recommendations regarding plants ....

I am looking for epiphytic bromeliads, or other epiphytes, that aren't too huge. don't need very high humidity and will tolerate conservatory temps (hot in summer down to cool, but frost free, in winter). The spot in the conservatory is out of direct sun, so bright but shaded.

A Coir pole sounds like a good idea. I have a several wired onto an old tree stump. Spagmum moss comes in handy as does wire and a spray bottle to keep them damp filled ideally with rain water.
