This is such an underrated plant. Against any sunny wall it flowers from mid-summer to November. Only the hardest frosts will cut it back but this is no problem as this benefits from being hard-pruned in the winter. Prune a mature one to half its size every winter and flowering growths are up to three metres high.
It's more a lax shrub than a climber so occasional tying in to some supporting wires or trellis are all that is necessary. It mixes well with other wall shrubs or climbers. If placed with winter jasmine they will combine a ten month flowering period.

Nice looking plant that I presume a member of the pea family? Never heard of it before.

You're right, Kris, it is a member of the Pea family. I'd never heard of it before until a client asked me to include it in a planting scheme calling it the Indigo bush as though I would know exactly what it was. I was so taken with it I bought one for myself.
