It's a good choice if you can grow it but it definitely isn't more rare. You can pick them up at most B&Q's in the houseplant section.

actually don't like that common houseplant one myself, the 'hardy' ones have nice pointed leaflets rather than rounded leaflets

I meant rare outside.

They're very common in the Med though as container plants around the cafes etc., like olives trees up here.
