Logic suggests that it was the variegation in yours that was different, and that plain green ones from the same parent as your variegated will have the same traits as the the green offspring from yours. If that makes sense.
As you insisted that yours did not come from Mulu, I have removed the word Mulu from all posts relating to the plants I grew from your root cuttings, however I think you will have a mammoth task getting people to call it something other than TRex, as that is the now the 'common name' given the larger, non-standard Tetrapanax in the UK.
"Rex" "Empress" "Di Sue Shan" "Steriodial Giant" are all "Green" plants but each has differences just like those derived from my variegated "Princess", this has been identified as a distinctly different form for the past few years due to its rapid growth rate/ leaf shape and size not variegation but is now nothing more than just another "Rex" lookalike.
I was growing and selling my cloned/ root cutting plants wholesale to specialist nurseries and also supplying zoo's and wildlife parks in the UK from 2005, way before i opened the doors to the public so there are potentially plenty of "mother" plants about.
What i'm trying to do is trace where the plants from root cuttings went after i'd made them available to members of this forum,I think thats only fair considering i gave everyone a golden ticket with regards to propagation from root cuttings in the first place.
I'm not about to restrict the propagation of them nor am i looking for a breeders cut although i'll be pretty miffed if someone is making a large profit from them seeing as the original root cuttings were sold for £1 each.
As far as i'm concerned the more that are grown the better, that was the main reason for originally making the root cuttings and propagation method available .
The thing is, if these plants are identified then anyone who gets one will know exactly what they are getting, it will be a vegetative clone with known provenance, habit and hardiness unlike a lot of the T/C'd Tetrapanax that are currently on offer.
