Plenty of obese people who don't shop in Fat Alley either, can't seem to lose weight even with dieting and loads of exercise, and its high levels of sugar that is causing their problem, rather than fat. Fizzy drinks obviously, but also juice cartons ... and lots of other, seemingly much more innocuous things, which it is now being realised contain way too much sugar.
The sugar causes an insulin reaction in the body, that causes the body to lay down fat thinking "we are in times of plenty", which is where the problem arises.
