ok, theres a lot of talk at the moment with maurelii and tandarra red but what is the difference between the two? is there a difference? is it a subtle difference or a distinct one like between maurelii and montbeliardii? I need to know cos I'm losing sleep thinking I'm missing out on another nana

I think this is an unanswerable question but, in the interests of research, here's a picture of my Tandarra Reds which I dug up today:



If anyone wants to post a recent pic of Maurelli maybe we can play spot the difference?

If there is a difference with those that i have seen side by side it is to subtle to notice - at least for me. Most likely just a marketing ploy.

As no-one has come back with a reply after me adding the last post, I presume that was the answer.

Jungle Seeds (well, "plants") are pretty outspoken about it:

"We offer and always have offered a micro propagated selected clone of maurelii that is closer to montbeliardii with its upright habit but with wider leaves. True maurelii sold by many garden centres is a squat plant with less attractive blackish colouring that seldom grows above 4ft and in our experience often goes "blind". We also see another form called "Tandarra Red" being offered with colouring identical to our own clone but only growing to 4ft?"

I'm a bit confused by the term "Monty" too - is that short for Maurelii or Montbeliardii - or both?

'Montbeliardii' = Mont beliardii

Totally agree this has already been covered not even a week ago, there is already pictures to compare the differences as well on the previous topic.

ah well, another senior moment
so the general consensus is same plant give or take

Don't worry many topics come round again and again...
