The main purpose of a parasol is to keep the sun off.........like a parasol on a babys pram.......an umbrella is to keep the water off.

Knowing me both Flounder . I do like a glass or 10 at social occasions, but I do remember thinking its the bloody August bank holiday BBQ, why is it raining, then I remembered which country I was in . At that event I was the first one out with garden parasol followed by a few others, then gazebos appeared the whole street looked like a refugee camp. Hope you have sensible flight time Flounder , be sure to take some nice pics when you are away (plants).
One thing is for certain you will spend quite a bit of your time away under a umbrella/parasol, unless you like intense all day

my cheapo asda 20 quid parasol never lets water through. And its just cloth by the looks of it.
What i need is a transparent parasol like Dave uses on his washy!
