Yes, that sounds promising. I wonder if its the same as I saw in Beth Chatto's garden half a dozen years ago?

I do hope that isn't the bog standard Sumach, 'coz I hate that :( although I could tolerate it if coppiced

I'll agree with the Rhus ID. I grew one in my front garden until it got too big. I then cut it down - and it's still suckering like mad 4 years later. Be afraid, be very afraid!
