Dont want to encourage rot etc, but dont want to leave unprotected much longer in case I dont get the chance.
Any reason not to wrap my Musa Basjoo in the hailstone/rain

Protect it now. It's on borrowed time. Even if you dont get a frost for the next couple of days the winds next week will destroy it.

Mine are not being protected cordy as they will just grow back again the following year. It just depends on how much you want to keep the height. As long as your rhizome is ok then you will be guaranteed as plant new year, even if the P-stem does die it will throw up pups.

Lol ferrets love it!
See i prefer single stem musa and don't want a pup patch! Apart from continually cutting unwanted pups back and plant wasting energy regrowing what's the best way to stop the pups to get single stem?
