With my experience of the bulls*** plant suppliers give customers I would be inclined to believe what people tell you on this site. I now always ask on here before purchasing plants., The information on here is second to none.

I love Blechnum Chilense, one of my favourites. It does prefer and need acidic soil otherwise it will not do well and demise is certain. They really do well in acidic compost in partial or full shade and kept moist. No wonder they do so well in Cornwall. I have some potted in ecicaceous compost and some in the ground. My garden soil is on the alkiline side and it shows, as the ones in ericaceous compost grow at almost twice the rate. So I guess you could cheat and plunge the potted ferns in the garden and re-pot when needed.
