After this winter I am considering selling mine as I don't have anywhere inside for it and I have been effectively heating my polyhouse just for it and my cooperi (which are small enough to go inside my shed). A wonderful fern but with our current climate maybe too much hassle ooop North. icon_scratch
Most wanted list - Any Young Trachycarpus and/or fern.

I have a better idea...Get a C.Dealbata to go with your medullaris then you'll be able heat your polyhouse for two plants, saving you a massive 50% cost per plant  Anyway if you sell it,you know sod's law dictates,we'll get a run of mild winters.

To all tree fern specialists.
My big medu has produced 5 leaves. Unfortunately 2 of them showed up inside my flat so they ain't that pretty and got sunburned. My question is- can I expect another flush this year? I have read that mature specimens grow much much slower than young 'uns. It is very nice to sit and drink coffee under this live parasol and I'd like to have that perfect round "roof' above my head.

Mine doesn't flush like a Dicksonia antarctica, it just keeps producing.

Hmmm that's how it should be with cyathea. So I just have to wait then. When I touch the top I can feel "balls" inside there :D so I guess I should expect new leaves icon_scratch

Yes, they should just be croziers waiting to come through. My Cooperi and medularis send up one at at time and as long as its warm enough year round.

My R.I.P. brownii did the same but it was just a young plant.
I also wish it did not dry out so fast

Just allow the burned leaves to die back as C Medullaris don't appreciate there fronds been cut off as well as you don't want it to bleed sap.
Hope this helps.

It may not be dead yet, I would give it plenty of water and see what happens.

Yeah, the seller cut the leaves to 1/3 of their length before sending it to me, otherwise there was no vehicle tall enough to transport it. those shortened ones slowly die back. and these 2 new ones burnt don't give up easily

It will make them smaller croziers if the C Medullaris keeps getting shocked.
