I saw some of these on the alan titchmarsh show a few wk's back, where's the best place to get them although I realise it may be a little late this year now. karl.

I bought mine from ebay, they're called Papaver 'Lady in Waiting'.

Be warned though, the flowers are amazing but very brief. The fern-like foliage is nicely tropical though.

are these "giant" because of their large seed heads, rather than massive flowers?

e.g. Papaver somniferum giganteum

If its anything like the oriental popy I wouldn't bother. Last year the flowers on mine lasted 2 days at best.
Annoying as hell as it was in bud for ages. Maybe it was all the rain.
Don't know what happened to it this year, no sign of the plant what so ever icon_scratch

I had a clump spring up from nowhere this year, each flower only lasts a day or 2 but the show lasted a couple of weeks. did you let them set seed as they are annuals?

Yes I left the plant be. It only flowered twice, really poor show.
