Re-locating gunnera.

Post by karl66 »

For the past year I've had a gunnera planted in 65 litre open bottom barrel at the bottom of garden but on a grass area. It's become a pain to mow around as it's tripled in size!, i'm planning on moving it further down the garden & into open ground as this is a natural bog area where there is a spring below, another month & it will have seen it's best day's this season so i'm guessing moving within the next wk or so will be best?, any advice please?. karl.

I butchered mine in January when the ground was frozen and every piece has survived and flourished. So on that basis you should be fine to move it now.

miggy garden centre seem to leave their 1ltr pot plants of gunnera out in the ice and snow all year round and they seem to survive.
