Depending how many you need check out woodblox. I used them for my pond cheaper than having sleepers delivered and so easy to construct in comparison to shifting sleepers around.
Most wanted list - Any Young Trachycarpus and/or fern.

My 15M x 1M "sleeper wall" would be 24 sleepers at about £20 each - call it £500 exc. delivery.

I only did a quick sum, but a 15M x 1M Woodblocx would be £1,678.95 icon_scratch

Looks nice though, and I like the way the bond together

Well I've just gone an ordered 35 8ft sleepers at 19.99 plus vat with £10 delivery. They had polar ones the same size and cheaper but were very cracked. That's another couple of tonne of stuff to shift!

Thats a crazy price. ..and clearly no contest. Glad you got it sorted.

do they just hold themselves in place or are there fixings and footings etc to be done?

I'll start building once I've disposed over the 100 or so conifers, built a fence and got ready for winter I bought now because of special offer.

They will be placed on level ground and secured with wooden pegs.
