Tropical plants from seed

Post by grahamfx »

Any spectacular tropical foliage plants that can be grown from seed ?? Not overly bothered about flowers just unusual, or tall, or large leaved ??

Two provisos, must be fairly quick growing, don't want to wait ten years to get a 2ft plant, and secondly reasonably easy to germinate.

Any pointers would be appreciated :)

Brugmansia are spectacular in growth rate, overall size and flowers but not foliage. I'm a foliage person but have been won over by brugs. Kangaroo fruit / Kangaroo apple is good. I was given some seeds by a member on here a few years ago. The berries ripen easily and its easy to set the seed again the following year. They self seed in my garden. The flowers are tiny but the main interest is the unusual shaped leaves and later in the year the berries.
