Simba those trachys. MY EYES!!!!!!! absolute steal. First Trachycarpus is my fav and that stella is gorgeous.

What I like about your garden is the hardy backbone. Trachys and bamboos. always interest year round and no stresses whatever the weather. I need some more trachys !!!

The only problem I see, is once established they grow fast, and in no time will shade out the sun. I've got to that stage now, and you can't trim the tops off :ahhh!:
Best regards

I was thinking about this the other day, and if you "pollarded" a Trachycarpus would it regrow. I seem to remember someones Trachycarpus on here which was chopped near the base and a new spear started to regrow icon_scratch icon_scratch icon_scratch

It is the Trachycarpus that is partially obscuring the view of the jungle hut.

Apparently they come from the same area as Vulcano and have short stiff leaves, which are more bluey...apparently.

Here's a little plan that I have in mind for 2013....

Bit of a dingy, unused alcove....

Could become a lovely bright glass room, ideal from some brick built Cycad beds.

Somehow have to convince Mrs Simba.... icon_scratch

Do Simba, that will be brilliant!

If I had the funds I would do something very similar at the back of our house.
Most wanted list - Any Young Trachycarpus and/or fern.

We have a small conservatory on the otherside of the house which is furnished, so thats her argument, that we don't need a second one.

So I can't sell the idea to her based on that, it can only be as "my greenhouse" which is a concept that is completely alien to her.... icon_scratch

Just tell her its a cheap lean to greenhouse, then build a real fancy one like the picture.

Is that the spot you initially were going to put a pegoda? i liked that idea.
