No, maybe it's a deceptive photo, the Polycarpa is in a pot, but the Vivax bamboo is most definately in the ground...

I think I need to go to specsavers!

Loving the selection of shade lovers ..... specially the Venustrum Nigrum .... is it really that verdant / acidic green colour ? Beautiful plant .....

Yes, it really is a bright limey sort of green, very eyecatching, and apparently nailed on hardy... icon_thumleft

I got mine from Beth Chatto.
I bought one, and when I got to the car, I noticed greenfly in its pot and soil.
So I took it back to the shop, they told me to keep it and treat it, but gave me a second one incase the treatment failed...... icon_thumright

It can be a bit hit or miss at Beth's though JN....sometimes you could spend a fortune there, other times you'll struggle to spend a tenner..

But definately a good place for underplanting, shadies and perennials...

Hey Simba, its all looking really lush, I am in no way jealous   . I think your black painted fences are a stroke of genius, they make the plant colours pop, yours looks like a very tranquil garden, brilliant work icon_thumleft .

Totally agree about the black fences - really makes the plants sing out. Great collection Simba, and a very thoughtfully landscaped garden.
