Re: Yorkshire Kris blog March gardening, the sun came out.
Looking good! Cannot believe how much hard work you've put into it! Sure it's all going to worth it in the end

It'll help me move this lot.

Lots of shoveling required!
Re: Yorkshire Kris blog March gardening, the sun came out.
I never understood why all barrows didn't look like that. wheelbarrows seem harder work than doing it by hand to me.
Re: Yorkshire Kris blog March gardening, the sun came out.
The difference between both a standard weal barrow and one like the picture is one you push and one you pull , i suppose it depends what you are moving.

It's a bit hard to tip the contents out when it's got 4 wheels, especially when it's got a small child on board!
It's a shame kris that all that pea shingle is going in the ground! You are never going to see it but hopefully you will see the benefits of it being there.
I planted a new addition of a Butia eriospatha here the other day and the soil was easy to dig, free draining etc.
I did realise at the time just how good I have got it compared to your garden.
It really must be a real challenge gardening in soil like yours.
It's good to see that now the weather has improved you are able to get on again!
When you dig the trenches for the pea shingle, what do you do with the soil?

The dumper has a tipper to release it's load whilst keeping all 4 wheels on the ground.Springy wrote:It's a bit hard to tip the contents out when it's got 4 wheels, especially when it's got a small child on board!

The drainage channels I'm digging are not that big so not much extra soil left over (I'm putting it into my raised beds) Annoying though that all the money and time spent on gravel etc will never be seen.
Just ordered another lorry load of materials so I'm gonna be a busy boy!

May not be seen but is key to getting the structure of the garden right.Yorkshire Kris wrote:The dumper has a tipper to release it's load whilst keeping all 4 wheels on the ground.Springy wrote:It's a bit hard to tip the contents out when it's got 4 wheels, especially when it's got a small child on board!
