My butterfly on bluebell images.
Thought I would share something else other than my passion for plants and that is my passion for British wildlife, especially butterflies. Apart from the last few years I have always monitored the butterfly species in my local area and seek out rarer species in other parts of the country. Here are a few of the images I took along the way.

Beautiful Kris! I chased around like a loony trying to get pictures of a hummingbird hawkmoth recently but unfortunately the pics aren't as good quality as yours!
Re: My butterfly on bluebell images.
We had quite a few Butterflies late in the 'summer' mainly Admirals, Whites, Small Tortoiseshells and Commas.
The only unusual one was this Small Copper.

Lovely image Clive although I would count Small Coppers as reasonably common.
Here is a Brimstone on Hawkbit.

Kris, I'd never seen one in a garden before so I didn't think they were common. Marbled Whites are common around here in Summer.

Lovely pics but why are they all on bluebells? Are those they're favourite flowers?
Re: My butterfly on bluebell images.
Yes nice pics!
I had one of these in my garden in 2010. I can't remember what it is but I think its becoming rare(ish).

In Spring Bluebells are really common in certain spots, so easily found by butterflies which look for blocks of flowers rather than individual blooms.

Those Rajah Brooks Birdwing I have seen qieut a lot in Mulu National Park in Serawak, Borneo. You often see them where you get some dirt, for example near the toilets. The seem to like Urine. And ones I saw many at an old campfire. They clearly are after the salts.kata wrote:Those are lovely Kris,
