Classic autumn seawatching day down at the coast today . . . 11° max, wind NE 7, heavy rain, sea with huge waves, means masses of seabirds going past:

Sooty Shearwater 28
Manx Shearwater 119
Balearic Shearwater 1
Fulmar hundreds including 1 'Blue' phase
Long-tailed Skua 3
Arctic Skua 11
Great Skua 13
Gannet thousands
Brent Goose 21
Pintail 5
Scaup 2

That's quite haul, it is very quiet here, inland and on the coast. A few waders turning up, Greenshank, Green Sandpiper and Whimbrel , some Warblers and Spotted Flys are gathering on the coast but a week or two before it gets busy.
