New Aurora Pictures: Solar Storms Trigger Northern Lights

A composite picture from NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory captured the January 19th solar flare erupting from the sun. The picture includes data from multiple wavelengths of ultraviolet light, to represent the different layers of the sun's turbulent atmosphere.

I saw the Aurora Australia from Tasmania during 2004. It was amazing, like being inside one of those plasma globes light and colour constantly shifting.

Was hard to stay out and watch them for too long though because the temperature was well below freezing.
