Last three nights minima on the boundary of the South London suburbs, seven miles from the civic centre's heat island, surrounded by hilly greenspace, park and woodland at 92 metres above sea level : -3.1c, -3.3c and this morning at 0600, -5.5c.

Giving this extra information to show in this current weather pattern I am too far away from the protection of urban heating and a victim of altitude

I'm a good two or three degrees colder than central London. At around dawn this morning the temperature outside the BBC studios in west London was -2c and my reading was -4.8c. Kenley, at the southern end of my borough (I'm northernmost), at 170m asl and seven miles the other way was -6.2c at dawn after a minimum of -7.2c

well we agree to within 0.5 so that's pretty good really. Probably well within the accuracy of my thermometer.

-6.7 last night, from the thermometer up against the house, think the cold killed the battery in the one at the end of the garden!
